In Praise of Fried Pickles

Everyone knows an essential component of a full bar menu is an assortment of crispy, fried goodies. We’ve got all the usual suspects here at Ski Shores: french fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, even fried okra… but there is one deep-fried treasure that is near and dear to our hearts (and stomachs!).

We’re talking, of course, about our top selling appetizer: fried pickles. Pickles?! Yes, pickles. Think about it: crisp little nuggets of salty goodness, battered and fried to a perfect golden brown. Dipped in Ranch, or better yet, our spicy Rio Ranch with a Cholula kick – heaven!

Don’t believe us? Try ‘em for yourself next time you stop by Ski Shores after an afternoon on the waves. Even the most stubborn cucumber-haters have been known to give into the siren song of the fried pickle. There’s just something about these addictive lil’ guys.

May movies, music, menus and more

Did anyone else feel like April was a blur, or was it just us? Regardless, we’re pumped that it’s finally May, ‘cause we’ve got tons of new summer stuff we can’t wait to show off!

This month’s movies are family friendly as always, so bring in the kids for Family Movie Night every Friday at sundown. This month’s flicks are:

Friday 5/4: Megamind
Friday 5/11: Coraline
Friday 5/18: Robots
Friday 5/25: Monster House

And before the movie, be sure to take advantage of our summer concert series! Every Friday-Sunday all month long we’ll be having artists play on the patio from 5-9 p.m. We’re talking major tune-age, people. For a list of the lineup, click here.

We also have a HUGE new shot menu with 20 tasty new shots like the Rootbeer Float, the Purple Lei and the Pineapple Upside Down Cake. Intrigued yet? We’ve also added four different frozen drinks to the menu. Basically, we’re about to liven up your summer shenanigans.

Heating things up with April movies

It’s finally April, and we can barely contain our excitement that summer is practically upon is. Scratch that—we can’t contain our excitement at all, so we figured we’d share it with you!

First order of business here at the headquarters of all things summer: April Family Movie Nights! We’ve got a few family classics coming your way this month, so load up the gang in your car/boat/vehicle of choice and make your way to the Shores. And don’t forget, with our full bar we’ve got plenty of adult fun for you!

Ski Shores is gearing up for summer!

Your chapstick is starting to melt in your pocket… your legs are beginning to stick to your leather car seats… and you find yourself longing for the days when you could walk across the parking lot without breaking a sweat. This can only mean one thing: SUMMER is finally here!

‘Tis the season for all things lake. Boating, skiing, wakeboarding and most of all, chilling on the Ski Shores patio. We’ve got some new menu items coming your way, including shrimp tacos with pineapple salsa, fresh guacamole, and tons of summery new drinks. Until then, take a look at our new, longer summer hours and start planning your Lake Austin adventures!

Monday-Thursday: 11 a.m.-9 p.m.

Friday: 11 a.m.-10 p.m.

Saturday: 8 a.m.-10 p.m.

Sunday: 8 a.m.-9 p.m.

We’ve also started serving breakfast every Saturday & Sunday from 8-11:30 a.m., so stop by the Shores to get your fill of breakfast tacos before hitting the lake!

It may not be officially spring but here at the Ski Shores, we decided just can’t wait any longer! We’ve got some awesome stuff coming your way in March, like an all new #hashtag contest plus summer hours are back. Bye bye, winter blues!

We’re also planning a month jam-packed with fun, kid-friendly movies. Further proof that spring is fantastic: there are 5 Fridays in the month of March this year! That means an extra Friday Family Movie Night for you and the gang.

Calling all Twitter-ers! On the first of each month, we will announce a #hashtag that you can use to win dinner for two! How, you ask?!

Every month, starting in March, there will be a different theme with a hashtag that we want you to tweet to us (@Ski_ShoresCade). Each month’s hashtag will be a phrase for you to answer with your funny, embarrassing or just plain crazy stories.

Escape to the Lake with Family Movie Night

Punxsutawney Phil may have predicted 6 more weeks of winter, but we’re warming up here at Ski Shores Café. With such mild February weather, why not spend your Friday nights by the lake at Family Movie Night?

We’ll keep the kids entertained with a different family-friendly movie each Friday on our projection screen, along with a fully lit playscape. You can have playtime too, with our full bar, plenty of yummy food and Happy Hour from 4-8.

Warming up January with Family Movie Nights

What better way to enjoy this not-so-cold-winter than by heading to Ski Shores Cafe on Fridays for an evening the whole family can enjoy?! Family Movie Night means kids can play in our fully-lit playscape while adults can take advantage of a full bar and delicious menu.

Wait … there’s more, our fire pit back in action! Sit around the fire to warm up and roast marshmallows for s’mores. Kids love it, and you will too!

Best of all? Both kids and adults can enjoy a family-friendly movie on our large projector screen with Lake Austin in the background! Here’s what we’re showing all month long:

New Winter Hours & Holiday Hours

The chilly winter weather will only get colder from here, but at Ski Shores that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to enjoy our beautiful lake view with a cold beer or margarita! Our new Winter Hours will be in effect after Thanksgiving and we will now be offering a full menu & bar Happy Hour on Thursday and Friday from 4pm – 8pm! Hard to enjoy a cold drink in this cold weather? Fear not! We now have HEAT INDOORS in our dining area and HEATERS ON OUR PATIO so you can stay warm and toasty while sipping on a cold drink and munching on a tasty appetizer! Here are our new winter hours in effect on November 25^th:

The month of November brings even cooler weather and holiday spirit to Ski Shores Cafe and we’re continuing the Friday Family Movie Night tradition!
